Canoes and Kayaks

Lightweight Kevlar® felts are used in the manufacturing of many of today’s popular brands of canoes and kayaks.  Kevlar® felt is laminated in layers to the hulls of the boats for improved impact resistance against rocks and other obstacles in the water.  Kevlar® can also be used for hull repair, with many boat builders offering canoe repair kits containing Kevlar® felt strips and resin to get your boat seaworthy again.

Inflatable Boats

The same lightweight Kevlar® used in canoes & kayaks can also be used in inflatable boats. Reinforced Kevlar® hulls provide the same benefits to inflatables such as impact resistance. In addition, Kevlar® can be used to improve tear resistance of the outer shell.

While these boats have their recreational purposes, they are also used worldwide by military, navy and coast guard forces.
